The Hull Times publishes obituaries for a $75 fee. A photograph may accompany an obituary.

A funeral home will email us a copy of an obituary and accompanying photograph at the family’s request, but they may charge a fee for this service. A family member may submit an obituary to the newspaper directly. We will edit it according to our guidelines for spelling and clarity, if necessary.

A sample obituary can be found below:

Jane (maiden name) Doe, a longtime Hull resident, died Feb. 1 at South Shore Hospital, after a brief illness. She was 81.

Mrs. Doe grew up in Dorchester and earned her nursing degree at Boston College School of Nursing. She worked at Brigham & Women’s Hospital in the maternity ward for many years before she retired.

Mrs. Doe enjoyed gardening and was a longtime member of the Hull Garden Club. She was also a diehard sports fan who enjoyed cheering on the Hull Pirates as well as the New England Patriots.

Mrs. Doe leaves her husband, John; her children, Jill Sinclair and her husband, Robert, and John Doe Jr. and his wife, Ann; five grandchildren; and one great grandchild.

Visiting hours will be held Monday from 2-4 p.m. at (funeral home name and address). A funeral service is scheduled for 10 a.m. at (church or temple name and address). Burial will follow, at (cemetery name and address).

Memorial donations may be made to (charity name and address).
